There’s no doubt—naturally rosy lips are an appealing feature of a woman’s beauty. So, many people who have dark lips want to lighten them. Lips are the most sensitive part of the body, which always has a threat of getting chapped and dried. Chapped or dry lips are a common problem that can be painful and unattractive.Some of the main causes of dark lips are Change in climatic conditions,Licking lips again and again, vitamin deficiency, allergic reaction,Improper care of lips, Cosmetic products,  dehydration, smoking, excessive licking of lips, Dry cold or heat,  hormonal imbalances, Sucking on lips, Poor or unbalanced diet, Stress etc.There are many commercial products available to treat chapped lips. But you can save money and easily get relief with some easy-to-follow natural remedies.


Coconut oil: Coconut oil can be used for reducing darkness of lip. It is available at home. Coconut oil is a natural moisturizer that can help chapped lips caused by cold or dry weather.Simply apply pure coconut oil several times a day on your lips to keep them moist. You can also use olive oil.

Rose:Rose has three main medicinal properties. They are soothing, cooling, and moisturizing. Rose will also help add a natural pink tint to your dark lips.  To use rose petals as lip softener, wash a handful of leaves in water and soak them in milk or glycerine for a few hours then make a thick paste and apply it each night, before going to bed. You can also mix one drop of rose water with a few drops of honey and apply it on your lips.

 Aloe Vera Gel: The healing properties of aloe vera are well known to everyone and it also helps a person having dry and chapped lips. Aloe vera gel can be applied directly on lips. Though the taste of aloe vera is unpleasant but it has powerful remedial features.

Sugar: Sugar is a natural softener. Exfoliating your lips regularly will remove dead skin cells that can make them look dark and dull.Sugar works as a great exfoliating agent.  Mix some sugar with one tea spoon of honey and apply the paste on your lips.  Do this once a week to restore your natural lip color and shine. Alternatively, you can simply mix some sugar with cold cream and use it to scrub your lips gently before going to bed.

Strawberries: strawberries contain vital minerals and vitamins that are highly essential for keeping your lips healthy and vibrant. Strawberries also can turn dark lips into rosy pink lips. To use mix one tablespoon of strawberry juice with two tablespoons of petroleum jelly. Then apply it on your lips. Alternatively, mix one-half tablespoon of strawberries juice with a little aloe vera gel and honey. Apply the paste on your lips and scrub gently. Leave it on for 15 minutes and then rinse it off with lukewarm water. Do this two or three times a week.

Honey: honey is a great moisturizer.  Simply apply pure honey on lips, several times a day. Honey can also be mixed with glycerine and applied on the lips.

Milk Cream: milk cream is a great natural moisturizer. To use, apply fresh milk cream on your lips and leave it on for 10-15 minutes. Then gently wash your lips with lukewarm water.

Cucumber: cucumber works like a skin lightening agent. Simply rub a slice of cucumber against your lips gently so that your lips absorb the juice. Do this for 4-5 minutes each day.

Almond Oil & Mustard Oil: you can also apply almond & mustard oil on your lips. Applying lukewarm mustard oil in the navel is the best cure for very dry lips.

Glycerine:Application of pure glycerine helps in treating the lips well.

Water: Dehydration can be the reason behind your chapped lips. So “Hydrate yourself” is the best policy that goes well with all the dermal problems.  It’s important to drink plenty of water during the day to keep your body well hydrated. Try to start your day by drinking one or two glasses of water before eating or drinking anything else. It also makes your lips look supple.

Lemon: lemon is a useful natural fruit that help us to reduce darkness of lips. Take a piece of lemon and simply scrub it softly on your lips. Do it for 2-3 minutes each day.

Petroleum jelly:Petroleum jelly is also very effective in treating dry lips.Simply apply some petroleum jelly over your dry lips several times a day to keep them well protected. Reapply before going to bed to keep your lips well  nourished during the night.
